Behind the design: How we craft handmade terrazzo art
Every piece we make starts with a raw sketch. This is a look at the grinding, sanding, and patience that turns raw concrete into a story.
We don't just sell furniture; we sell something you can feel. Our work is about creating a connection to memory, like the terrazzo floors from your childhood. We create love, stories, life, and memories for you.
How is our furniture different? We don't just sell furniture pieces; we sell art pieces. We create stories and craft something that feels close to you, because our customer isn't just buying an object, they're choosing a piece of themselves.
We don't follow trends. Terrazzo is a natural material that is made for ages. It stays with you, it changes with you, and it creates memories. When you buy terrazzo, you are buying a lifelong product.
Concrete is luxury. It gives you the freedom to play with design, mood, and color like no other material. We don't just work with terrazzo; we shape it into custom pieces that feel one-of-a-kind, often infusing it with other materials like brass.
Creating these pieces took months of planning, refining, and rethinking. Working with concrete and terrazzo means taking our time, with no shortcuts. The biggest challenge is translating delicate, organic designs into strong materials while preserving their natural flow.
To you, it’s a stunning piece. To us, it’s the sound of grinding stone, the dust in the air, and countless hours of shaping, sanding, and refining. True beauty isn’t just created; it’s forged through dedication.
Listen closely. This is the sound of ideas taking shape: the scrape of metal, the tap of a hammer, the buzz of machines. This is where every piece begins, with hands, tools, and time. This is honest work.
Param came from footwear design, and I came from fashion. We connected over a shared love for natural materials, started sketching, and our love for concrete and terrazzo led to Parman Designs. Six years later, we've grown from small planters to a full range of products.
Our first order was for 50 planters. We were so happy, but when we delivered them, 20 were broken. We replaced them in three days and learned a valuable lesson. That's how we started, and from there we grew into tiles, furniture, and art pieces.
It all starts with curiosity. One day, Param poured concrete into a juice box just to see what would happen. That small, playful experiment sparked our way of thinking about materials and design, reminding us that great ideas often come from trying something new.
About The Art of Craft: Behind the Design
Making these pieces is not a factory job. It is a slow, tactile process where we cast, sand, and polish every slab by hand. We start with raw concrete or stone chips, and the final look only appears after hours of grinding. It is messy, dusty work, but it is the only way to get those clean, honest lines that define our style.
We do not follow trends. Terrazzo is a material that connects people to memories—the floors of an old home, the textures of a childhood space. When you choose a piece from us, you are not just getting furniture; you are getting a story. Our process begins with curiosity. Sometimes it is a sketch inspired by a bird, other times it is just playing with how concrete behaves in a mold. Once the design is set, we mix, pour, and wait. The curing, grinding, and polishing stages take weeks. We do not use shortcuts because these materials are meant to last a lifetime. Whether it is a pendant light for your living room, a statement wall panel with brass inlays, or a sculptural table, we treat it as art. You can work with us to pick the base colors, the stone chips, or the metal inlay patterns. We ship across India, and every piece comes crated for safety. If you have a vision for your space, let us talk about how we can build it.
Parman Designs
Param and I started this journey because we were curious about how materials like concrete and terrazzo could feel personal. We do not want to just sell you a product; we want to make something that you actually want to touch and keep. Come visit our studio in Ghitorni to see the process yourself.
