Around the World Paper-Cut Art
I started these architectural paper-cuts during lockdown as a way to travel from my desk. From the Taj Mahal to the Colosseum, each piece is hand-cut from a single sheet of paper to bring these wonders home. It feels like such a privilege to make these for you. 🤍
This is the story of how my art became real life. I started an 'Around the World' paper-cut series during lockdown, creating pieces like this Russian cathedral just for fun. I never imagined I would one day stand right in front of it. It was a true manifestation moment and a reminder that art holds a little bit of magic.
About The 'Around the World' Series
To get that perfect shadow depth, I frame these in a double-glass sandwich without any backing board. It lets light pass through the intricate lattice work and arches, casting natural shadows on your wall that change depending on how the sun hits them. It is such a vibe when the light catches it just right!
When I work on architectural pieces like the Russian cathedral or the Taj Mahal, I spend about 5 to 8 hours just focusing on the fine details. The lattice work, the arched windows, and the delicate curves of a dome are all carved out using a single precision knife. I use 180 GSM archival paper because it holds its shape while staying crisp enough for the fine cuts.
Since these are framed in double-glass, they do not have a solid background. This is a design choice I made early on because it makes the paper art feel like it is floating. If you are hanging these in a room with a lot of natural light, the shadows become part of the art itself.
Each piece comes ready to hang in a synthetic wood frame, either black or dark brown, so it fits right into your gallery wall or workspace. Whether you are looking for a specific monument as a gift or wanting to start your own little 'Around the World' collection, I am open to chatting about which landmark you would like to see next.
