Turn Your Saree Into Custom Kids Ethnic Wear
Give your cherished sarees a second life. We transform your fabrics into beautiful, custom-fitted ethnic outfits for your child, preserving memories with every stitch.
Here is one of my favorite transformations. This mother entrusted me with her special saree, which I carefully redesigned into this lovely white ruffled outfit for her daughter's first big family event.
About From Your Saree, For Your Little One
When you send your saree for upcycling, we do not just cut the fabric. We first assess the border placement, fabric weight, and drape to ensure the pattern works for a child's silhouette. Every outfit is finished with a high-count cotton or Malmal lining to prevent itching, ensuring the piece is as comfortable for your little one as it is sentimental for you.
How We Repurpose Your Saree
Turning a cherished saree into a child’s outfit is a collaborative process. We understand that these fabrics often hold emotional value, so we treat every yard with care.
The Process
- Fabric Assessment: We start by reviewing your saree to determine the best way to utilize the pallu and border. Whether it is a heavy silk or a lightweight organza, we plan the cut to highlight the finest details of the original piece.
- Design Consultation: You choose the style—be it a traditional pattu pavadai, a modern lehenga, or a simple frock. We provide guidance on how to make the design practical for your child's age.
- Safe Construction: For infants and toddlers, we prioritize skin-friendly construction. We use pre-washed Malmal or cotton linings for all garments to keep the fabric away from sensitive skin, and we avoid harsh metal hooks where possible.
What We Provide
- Professional Stitching: We handle the conversion of the saree into a complete set, including the blouse and skirt. We include all necessary ancillary materials like high-quality thread, zippers, and stiffening canvas for skirts.
- Custom Embellishments: If your original saree border is not sufficient, we can incorporate additional hand-stitching or tassels to complete the look.
- Sizing: We add internal fabric margins to ensure the outfit lasts through growth spurts, making it a piece that can be worn for more than just one festival.
Shipping & Timeline
We are based in Bangalore and accept sarees from across India via courier. Because this is a meticulous, handcrafted process, please allow a few weeks for us to perfect the fit and finish of your child's new outfit.
