Training Regimen: Building Champions at NEA Kabaddi Academy
Victory in kabaddi and kho-kho isn't about luck. It is built on the mat with sweat, tire drills, and the discipline we hammer into our athletes every single day.
A glimpse into our comprehensive fitness training. This session includes hurdle jumps for agility, sprints for speed, and partner exercises for strength building.
This is advanced Kho-Kho skill practice. We focus on drills that improve reaction time, footwork, and the ability to execute crucial moves like dives and pole turns under pressure.
We use a variety of equipment to build explosive power. This video shows athletes performing box jumps and weighted lunges to develop lower body strength.
A typical training day at the academy. Athletes go through a circuit of agility ladders, hurdles, and cone drills to improve their speed and coordination on the field.
Jump training is crucial for Kho-Kho players. Here, my athletes are practicing side jumps and lion jumps over tires to improve their explosive power and evasion skills.
Functional strength training using tires. This exercise builds core strength, grip, and overall power, which is essential for the physical demands of Kho-Kho.
Resistance band training is excellent for developing explosive speed. Here, I am providing resistance as an athlete sprints, forcing them to generate more power with each step.
A look at our mixed group training session. Athletes work through a circuit including hurdles, agility ladders, cone weaves, and skipping to build all-around fitness.
Bodyweight exercises are a core part of our conditioning. This video shows my athletes performing synchronized squats and lunges to build leg strength and endurance.
Indoor mat training session focusing on speed and agility. The mat surface allows for safe practice of dives, rolls, and quick sprints, simulating competition conditions.
About Training Regimen: Building Champions
We don't just run laps. My students train using a mix of agility ladders, hurdle jumps, and heavy tire conditioning to build the specific explosive power needed for the game. You will see them working on 25mm EVA safety mats, which are designed to let them dive, roll, and practice tackles safely, simulating the pressure of a real match.
People think sports coaching is just about talent. My experience in Sector 110 tells me otherwise. It is all about consistency. We run separate squads for U-14, U-18, and U-19 boys and girls, ensuring everyone gets the specific attention they need to compete at school and district levels.
What you see in these images is the foundation of our success. Whether it is SFA Championships or CBSE Cluster games, the preparation starts here. We combine functional fitness—like partner squats, fireman carries, and resistance band sprints—with sport-specific skills. When a raider needs to execute a perfect hand touch or a defender needs to chain tackle, they rely on the muscle memory built during these repetitive drills.
I keep the batches focused, with about 15-25 students. This allows me to personally correct their footwork and dive technique. It is not always easy; sometimes you have to be 'neeche ja' (get low) or 'tackle maar' (make the tackle) when you are exhausted. But that is how we win. If you are ready for serious, competitive training, come see how we work. We train 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
Vishal Pal
I am Coach Vishal Pal, but my students call me Guru ji. I focus on one thing: results earned through sweat. I am here to build athletes who are ready for the district and national stage, not just players who want to kill time.
