The best part of my job is seeing the laughter and excitement when people see their caricatures for the first time. Here is a group of students at the India Science Festival in Pune, thrilled with their shared memento. Capturing the energy of a group in one drawing is always a fun challenge.
Here is a glimpse from a live demonstration and workshop I conducted for the talented students at D.Y. Patil College of Applied Arts & Crafts. I am walking them through the process of creating a caricature, from initial observation to the final exaggerated sketch on the easel.
In this short interview, I share a bit about my journey from a regular job to becoming a full-time caricature artist. I feel incredibly fortunate that my art allows me to travel across India for events, with all expenses sponsored by my clients. It is a testament to how much joy this art form can spread.
This is an invitation from an event I was a part of in Raipur for World Cartoonist Day. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community and fellow artists, offering live five-minute caricature sketches to everyone who attended.
About Featured
My caricature station is designed to keep the energy high. Whether it is a sangeet, a brand launch, or a college fest, I sketch on the spot, creating 12 to 15 black and white portraits every hour. Every guest gets their own personalized souvenir on high-quality bond paper, and I provide clear sleeves for every sketch to make sure they get home safely.
How My Live Caricature Station Works
When I set up at your event, I bring everything needed: a professional easel, comfortable seating, and my art supplies. My goal is to capture the unique features of your guests, adding a dash of humor to the classic portrait.
- Live Sketching: I provide fast-paced black and white sketches or detailed color caricatures depending on your event needs. Black and white is perfect for high-volume crowds at expos, while color sketches work beautifully for intimate wedding gatherings.
- Interactive Experience: I don't just sit and draw; I engage with your guests, sharing jokes and making the experience a part of the fun. It is what I call laughter medicine.
- Setup Flexibility: I bring my own lighting for dimmer evening venues, ensuring I can work comfortably anywhere from open-air lawns to indoor banquet halls.
Workshops and Demos
Beyond live entertainment, I also conduct 'Story-Cature' sessions. These are interactive, 90-minute workshops where I teach groups the basics of caricature through storytelling. If you are planning a campus event or an NGO gathering, these sessions are a great way to combine art with learning.
Travel and Logistics
I am based in Mumbai and Pune, but my art has taken me all over India, from Jaipur to Shillong and Raipur. If you have an event in mind, reach out and we can coordinate the travel. I handle my own equipment setup so you can focus on your guests.
