The Art of Handcrafting: Our Process & Story

We believe your home should feel like a deep exhale. Here is a look at the messy, beautiful, and intentional process behind every piece we pour in our Bangalore studio.

Pour with us. This short video shows the satisfying process of pouring liquid Jesmonite into a silicone mold for one of our mini round jars. This is the first step in creating every one of our pieces.

This is one of our favorite parts of the process: stamping the cork bases for our trays and coasters. Each piece gets our logo, a little mark that shows it was made with love, by us.

We often get asked about the material we use. This graphic explains what Jesmonite is: an eco-friendly, water-based material that is safer for us to work with and safer for your home. It's what gives our pieces their unique stone-like feel.

A little reminder that decor isn't just for tables. We love finding unexpected little corners to style our handmade pieces, and we hope to inspire you to do the same.

We put together this graphic with four unexpected places to style handmade decor, from bathroom counters to bookshelves. A small, intentional piece can truly transform a space.

A fun fact about working with concrete. The color changes as it cures and the water evaporates. This natural process is part of what makes every handmade piece unique.

The eternal struggle of a concrete artist: the air bubbles. We do our best to minimize them, but sometimes a sneaky one appears. We see these little imperfections as proof of the human touch.

We had a little fun with a trending AI art style and imagined ourselves as a "Myrtle Decor" doll. This is our maker starter pack, complete with Jesmonite, a mixer, and of course, coffee.

We couldn't resist trying the Ghibli art trend. Here's an animated version of us lighting our snowflake T-light holders. It captures the cozy, magical feeling we hope our products inspire.

Another Ghibli-inspired art piece showing a vanity filled with our handmade decor items. It’s a dreamy, aesthetic version of how we imagine our pieces living in your homes.

About Our Handmade Process & Story

When you hold one of our Jesmonite or concrete pieces, you might notice a tiny bubble or a subtle color shift. That is not a flaw, it is the fingerprint of our process. Since every item is hand-mixed and poured right here in our studio, these small variations are simply proof that real hands made your decor, not a cold factory machine.

Making decor by hand is a quiet, deliberate act. We work primarily with Jesmonite and architectural concrete because they allow us to create pieces that are sturdy, water-resistant, and significantly kinder to the planet than standard plastic resins.

Our Studio Process

Everything starts with a raw idea. Whether it is a tray for your bedside table or a jar for a candle, we begin by mixing our eco-resin and pigments by hand. This is where the magic (and the mess) happens. We choose our color palettes to evoke a sense of calm, focusing on the soft minimalism that defines the Myrtle Decor aesthetic.

Once the mixture is ready, we pour it into silicone molds. This is a time-sensitive step, as the material begins to set quickly. After the initial pour, we wait. Curing is a natural process where water evaporates from the mix, which is why your piece might arrive with slight variations in tone or texture—it is literally still settling into its final form.

Why We Embrace Imperfection

We are often asked about the small air bubbles or uneven edges that sometimes appear in handmade decor. To us, these are not mistakes. They are evidence of the human touch. When you buy from a small batch maker in Bangalore, you are bypassing mass production where machines ensure everything is identical. Instead, you are getting a piece that has been sanded, sealed, and inspected by us. We personally finish each item with a sealant for water resistance and add cork or silicone feet to ensure your furniture remains scratch-free.

Customization & Sustainability

We believe in making decor that lasts. Because we produce in small batches, we can easily customize the colors of our trays and organizers to match your interior theme. If you have a specific vision for your home, reach out—we love working on custom orders that bring a bit of personality into your space.
