Grooming shouldn't be a battle. Whether it's your new puppy's first bath or a rescue dog needing a patient touch, we focus on building trust first, not just finishing the trim.

Conditioning is key for a lifetime of stress-free vet visits and grooming. Here, we are working with Leo, a Golden Retriever puppy, to get her comfortable with being handled on the grooming table, checking her paws, and accepting the slip leash on her own.

We understand that the sound of a high-velocity dryer can be scary for many dogs. To ensure a calm experience, we use comfortable ear wraps that gently muffle the noise, allowing us to dry their coat thoroughly without causing distress.

For puppies who are teething or tend to bite, we turn grooming into a positive game. Using a lick mat with peanut butter or yogurt keeps them focused and happy, allowing us to introduce brushes and nail clippers without any fuss.

About Gentle Start for Pups & Anxious Dogs

We don't believe in forcing a dog through a stressful wash. Instead, we use desensitization techniques to turn grooming into a positive experience. If your dog is nervous, we start with distractions—like lick mats coated in peanut butter or yogurt—while slowly introducing grooming tools. We also use soft ear wraps to dampen the noise of our high-velocity dryers, ensuring the sound doesn't trigger fear during the drying process.
