Studying the legendary works of artists like Van Gogh and Da Vinci is a wonderful way to learn composition and technique. Join me to explore these masterpieces in a relaxed, guided setting.

My tribute to Vincent van Gogh's iconic painting, 'The Starry Night.' I used thick, swirling brushstrokes with acrylics to capture the intense energy and emotion of the original masterpiece.

Here is my version of Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa,' painted in acrylics. Recreating the works of old masters is a challenging but incredibly rewarding way to hone your skills and understand art history.

About Tributes to the Masters

Studying works by Van Gogh or Da Vinci is not just about copying; it is a masterclass in observation. When you try to replicate the swirling skies of The Starry Night or the subtle expressions of a classic portrait, you are forced to slow down and notice the pressure of the brush and the way light interacts with shadow. In my sessions, we break down these complex masterpieces into simple, manageable steps, so you can walk away with a piece of art you feel proud of, regardless of your skill level.

People often ask, why paint a version of a famous work instead of something original? The answer is simple. Recreating a classic forces you to look at the world the way an artist did. You begin to understand why they chose a specific colour palette, how they layered their acrylics, and the specific brushstrokes that bring a canvas to life.

In my studio, we do not aim for museum-grade perfection. We aim for understanding. We pick a master, study their style, and then we experiment together. Whether it is learning how to layer heavy body acrylics to get that thick texture or how to use a palette knife for dramatic effect, you get a hands-on lesson in art history.

I keep the groups small—3 to 6 people—so I can guide you through every stage. We talk about the artist and the era, and then we dive into the canvas. By the end of our session, you have more than just a painting; you have a new set of skills you can apply to your own original work. It is all about building your confidence, one stroke at a time. Everyone is welcome here, from total beginners to those who just want to spend a relaxing afternoon with colours.
