Banna Bannada Vesha: Versatile character transformations for Kannada media
Every character starts with a look. Whether I am playing a serious Swamiji or a comedy sketch role, getting the costume and expressions right is part of the work. Here is a look at the various characters I have portrayed on screen.
A funny expression while in costume as a swamiji, posing with my co-star. We call this look 'Raghu Ragini'.
A selfie in my getup as Masana Rudra Swamiji. This is a character I play often and enjoy getting into the serious and divine look.
A smiling selfie as the swamiji. Even with all the makeup and costume, it's important to feel happy and comfortable in the role.
Another happy picture in my swamiji character getup. The orange turban and rudraksha beads are key parts of this look.
Dressed in a tribal costume for a special performance on Dance Karnataka Dance. The leopard print and beaded accessories made the character feel authentic.
A happy selfie wearing a bowler hat for a role in the movie 'First Night with Devva'. It has a bit of a Charlie Chaplin feel to it.
Another funny pose as a politician for the 'Gili Gili Politics' show. The glasses and grey hair complete the transformation.
About this collection
Getting the right look is the first step of acting. Whether it is the Masana Rudra Swamiji character or a funny politician, I ensure the makeup, costumes, and body language match the script. I know that for a shoot, time is money, so I come prepared with my own wardrobe kits to make the transition into character smooth and quick.
I have been lucky to play many characters, from a serious police officer in 'Room No. 111' to the more lighthearted roles on 'Maja Talkies'. For me, the Banna Bannada Vesha or the different getups are a way to test my range as an actor. When I play the Masana Rudra Swamiji, I bring my own saffron robes and rudraksha beads because I know production teams appreciate when the artist takes responsibility for their own look. For reality shows, I am comfortable with anything from heavy prosthetics to body paint, like the Avatar look I did for 'Hoo Antiya'.
My approach is straightforward, I understand the technical side of film and TV sets, and I am always ready to adapt to the director's vision. If you have a specific character role in a feature film, a web series, or a digital ad, reach out and let's discuss how I can fit into your project. I value being easy to work with and bringing the right energy to the set.
