About The Art of Customization
A common fear with custom art is the paint cracking or peeling after just a few wears. We fix this by stripping the factory finish entirely with a professional deglazer before a single drop of paint touches your shoe. This deep prep ensures the custom design actually bonds with the material, so you can wear your kicks without constantly worrying about creasing or damage.
How We Do It
Painting a sneaker isn't just about putting color on a surface. If you don't prep the material, the paint won't last a week. Here is the process we follow for every pair that comes into our Mumbai studio:
1. Deep Prep & Deglazing Every sneaker leaves the factory with a protective coating. We use industrial-grade deglazers to strip this off. This allows the pigment to soak into the leather or canvas fibers rather than just sitting on top of them.
2. The Sketch & Base Once the surface is ready, we sketch out your design. Whether it is an anime character, a movie scene, or just a logo, we map it out to ensure it fits the silhouette of the shoe perfectly.
3. Hand-Painting with Angelus We use Angelus leather paints because they are designed to flex with your shoe. They do not turn into a hard shell that cracks when you walk. We build up the color in thin layers, which is crucial for getting those clean lines and gradients you see in our gallery.
4. The Sealant Finish After the art is dry, we apply a high-quality finisher. We match the sheen to your preference, whether you want a matte look, satin, or a high-gloss finish. This adds an extra layer of protection against minor scratches.
Does It Last? Yes. While you should avoid heavy monsoon use or scrubbing with harsh chemicals, these designs are made for daily wear. If you treat your custom kicks like you treat your favorite pair of sneakers, the art will hold up perfectly.
