I believe mehendi is more than a design; it is a story. My journey is about constantly learning, from perfecting lines to mastering portraits, to bring your unique visions to life on your hands.

I was so proud to receive my certificate after completing a Figure Work Masterclass with the talented Sonamistry. This training helps me create the detailed portraits and character designs you see in my work.

A happy moment from my certification day. Continuous learning is a huge part of my journey as an artist, and I am grateful for the opportunity to grow my skills and bring even better art to my clients.

This video shows me practicing a Radha Krishna portrait, a skill I honed in my masterclass. It reveals the step-by-step process of building the figures, from the initial outline to the final intricate details.

About My Artistic Journey

Getting certified in Figure Work was a turning point for me. When you ask for a Radha-Krishna scene or a custom silhouette for your big day, you are not getting a generic design. I sketch these figures from scratch to ensure the anatomy is graceful and the expressions are right. It takes patience and steady hands, so when we plan your bridal mehendi, let us discuss the specific story you want to tell so I can prepare the layout in advance.

My approach to mehendi has evolved over these 7 years. While traditional patterns like paisleys and mandalas are timeless, I found myself drawn to the challenge of figure work. Drawing a face or a scene requires more than just filling in a pattern; it requires understanding flow, proportions, and how to place art so it looks natural on the curve of a hand or arm.

Why Figure Work Matters

Many clients come to me asking for their love story to be featured in their bridal henna. This could be a representation of their first meeting, a portrait of the couple, or religious motifs like Radha-Krishna. Because I have trained specifically in figure work, I can handle these complex requests without the lines looking cluttered. The goal is to make the portrait stand out against the background filler.

The Process

When you book a signature figure or portrait session, the process is slightly different from a standard application:

  • Planning: We identify the key characters or symbols you want included.
  • Composition: I sketch out the layout, ensuring that when you join your hands, the story flows as one cohesive piece.
  • Execution: Because these designs require such high precision, the application time is longer. I use a specific blend of essential oils to ensure the henna lines remain crisp, allowing the fine details of the portrait to stain deeply.

Whether you are planning for a wedding, Karwa Chauth, or a festive celebration, I am always looking for new ways to push my boundaries. If you have an idea for a custom portrait, reach out and let us chat about how we can make it happen.
