Mangalore Tile Roofing with Custom Steel Frames
For a classic look with modern strength. I build engineered steel structures to support your terracotta tiles, ensuring proper water runoff and stability for your home, outhouse, or gazebo.
This is a close-up look at a finished Mangalore tile roof I built. You can see the clean lines from the outside and the strong, black-painted MS support structure on the inside, showing quality from every angle.
This clip shows a completed Mangalore tile roof on a gazebo structure at night. Even after the sun goes down, the quality of the build is clear, providing a timeless look for this outdoor space.
About Mangalore Tile Roofing
Mangalore tiles are heavy, so I do not use a standard shed frame. I construct a high-density mild steel grid with close purlin spacing and reinforced support columns to make sure your roof stays rock solid for years, without any sagging or structural stress.
Engineering Your Roof
When you choose Mangalore tiles, the structure beneath matters more than the tiles themselves. Clay tiles add significant load to a roof. My process starts with a structural assessment of your existing space to determine the right gauge of mild steel pipes required for the truss grid. I use 14 to 16 gauge steel, which is heavy-duty and designed to handle the weight of terracotta for decades.
My Fabrication Process
- Site Assessment: I personally measure your space to plan the pitch and slope. Proper angle is non-negotiable here to ensure rainwater runs off quickly.
- Custom Grid: Every truss is welded on-site. I use heavy-duty arc welding for maximum load distribution.
- Rust Prevention: Metal rusts easily in Bangalore weather. I manually apply red oxide primer to every single joint and pipe, followed by an enamel top coat before the tiles go on.
- Tile Alignment: Once the steel frame is ready, I use specialized labor to lay the tiles. Ridge tiles are sealed to the peaks to prevent any water leakage during monsoon.
Why Build It This Way
A solid steel frame eliminates the need for frequent repairs. Whether you are building a new gazebo in your garden or adding a classic pitched roof to your terrace, my goal is to build it so you do not have to worry about the maintenance. I provide all logistics and material handling, so you do not have to stress about getting heavy tiles or steel pipes to your rooftop.
