About Newborn Portraits: The First Few Days
My newborn sessions work best when your baby is under fifteen days old. At this age, they are naturally sleepy and flexible, which allows me to comfortably pose them in those soft, swaddled positions. If you are past this window, we can still capture beautiful images, but the poses will change to focus on their early alertness and emerging personality rather than the classic curled-up newborn look.
Safety and Hygiene
When it comes to newborns, safety is my absolute priority. The studio is kept at a comfortable, controlled temperature to ensure your baby is warm throughout the session. All fabrics, wraps, and props are steam-cleaned before every shoot to maintain strict hygiene. You are welcome to sit, relax, or feed the baby in the studio; there is no pressure to rush.
The Process
I typically recommend booking your session before the baby arrives, based on your due date. We can then adjust the final timing once you are home and settled.
What to Expect
- Swaddled Poses: These classic, peaceful portraits use soft wraps to create that womb-like, secure feel.
- Parent Interaction: I always encourage parents to be part of the session. These photos, where you are holding your baby or looking into their eyes, often become the most cherished images from the day.
- Prop Selection: I have a dedicated collection of baskets, cloud-like fabrics, and delicate accessories. You do not need to bring outfits for the baby; I provide all the swaddles and hats tailored for newborns.
Studio vs. Natural Light
While I can do certain portraits with soft, natural light, my Karni Vihar studio is fully equipped for the specialized lighting required to capture fine details like tiny fingers and eyelashes clearly. This ensures we get high-quality, professional results regardless of the weather outside.

I look at my camera as just a sidekick—the real magic happens when I capture those quiet, heavy-lidded gazes and the way your baby fits perfectly into your arms. My goal is to create a space that feels as calm and safe as your own home, so you can just focus on your little one.
