Essential Jewellery Care Tips for Your Heirlooms
Fine jewellery is an investment, but it needs a little love to stay brilliant. Follow these simple practices to protect your gold, diamonds, and Polki pieces.
Here is my jewellery care guide for your gold pieces. To maintain its shine, keep it away from harsh chemicals, store it in a soft pouch, and clean it gently with mild soap and water.
And for your diamond jewellery, avoid lotions and oils as they can dull its brilliance. A regular, gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush will keep it sparkling.
About Caring for Your Treasures
The biggest mistake most people make is storing everything in one box. When gold touches diamonds, or Polki rubs against metal, tiny scratches happen over time. Always keep your pieces in individual, soft fabric-lined pouches. This single habit will protect your jewellery's integrity and save you the hassle of frequent repairs.
Protecting Your Investment
Every piece of jewellery, from a lightweight daily-wear gold ring to a heavy Jadau Polki set, reacts differently to the environment.
Gold & Diamond Maintenance
Daily wear causes a buildup of oils, lotions, and soaps that dull the brilliance of diamonds. The fix is simple: use a soft toothbrush with warm, mild soapy water to gently scrub your pieces. Skip the ultrasonic cleaners unless you are at a professional studio; they can loosen settings on fragile stones.
Polki & Jadau Care
Our Polki pieces are crafted in Jaipur using traditional methods that involve wax and lac filling. These are sensitive to moisture and extreme heat.
- Keep it dry: Never wear your Polki sets while swimming or during heavy festivities involving water or excessive sweat.
- Storage: Always use a fabric-lined box. Moisture can damage the lac filling inside the gold frame, which is expensive to fix.
