Whether it’s a crisp Kanjeevaram for a wedding or a modern can-can drape for your reception, I show you how to get the perfect silhouette. Learn professional techniques to make your saree secure, stylish, and comfortable.

Day 8 of my Navratri tutorial series. The secret to perfect saree pleats is preparation. This video shows my technique for pre-pleating and ironing a silk saree to get sharp, neat folds that stay in place.

Perfect draping can transform an outfit and boost your confidence. This video shows how crisp pleats and a well-placed pallu create a flawless, elegant silhouette.

A tutorial on a modern can-can draping style. This method gives your saree the volume and flair of a lehenga, creating a dramatic and stylish look for any grand occasion.

Here is another variation of the can-can saree drape. This step-by-step tutorial shows you how to pleat and tuck the saree to create a beautiful half-lehenga style.

About this collection

The biggest struggle with silk sarees is keeping the pleats sharp without them slipping halfway through the event. I focus on specific pinning techniques and fabric prep that stop the drape from shifting, whether you're wearing heavy Kanjeevaram or a flowy chiffon. You don't need a professional stylist for every function once you learn these simple, effective tricks.

A saree is only as good as its drape. When the pleats are uneven or the pallu doesn't sit right, you spend the whole event adjusting rather than enjoying yourself. My approach to draping is all about structure—I teach you where to place the safety pins so they remain invisible but secure, and how to prep the fabric so your pleats stay crisp for hours.

Modern vs. Traditional Draping

For grand occasions, I often work with can-can skirts underneath the saree to give it that lehenga-like volume. It changes the entire look of a traditional garment, making it more dramatic for receptions or sangeet nights. If you prefer a classic South Indian look, we focus on neat, narrow pleats that emphasize the border and sit flat against the waist.

Why Learn With Me?

Whether you are a bride preparing for your wedding trousseau or someone who just wants to drape their own sarees for festive events, the techniques remain the same. In my workshops at my Banashankari my Banashankari studio, we go hands-on. You won't just watch; you will practice until you can finish a full drape in under 15 minutes. We cover everything from the basic Nivi drape to modern lehenga styles, ensuring you leave with skills that actually make your life easier.
