About this collection
You will notice that a great drape isn't just about the pinning; it is about how you iron and prep the fabric before the event. In my masterclass, I teach you the 'pluffy pleating' technique that makes even heavy Kanjeevarams sit perfectly on every body type, so you don't have to worry about the saree feeling loose, uneven, or messy as the day goes on.
Why Saree Draping is a Skill
A perfect drape is the foundation of any traditional South Indian look. Whether you are working with stiff Kanjeevarams or soft silk, the difference between an average drape and a professional one comes down to technical execution.
In my one-day masterclass at Sunkadakatte, I break down the process into manageable steps:
- Fabric Prep: Learn how to iron and fold your sarees for travel and set pleats that stay crisp for hours.
- The Pluffy Pleating Technique: This is my signature style. We focus on creating volume and depth in the pallu and pleats, which adds grace to the final look.
- Body Type Calibration: Not every saree should be draped the same way. I show you how to adjust pleat width and height based on the bride's height and frame.
- Security & Accessories: Mastering the use of pins, traditional belts like the oddiyanam, and balancing heavy jewelry so that nothing pulls or slips.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in an open teaching style. When you join my academy, I show you every technique I use in my own bridal work. There are no secrets held back. Whether you are a total beginner who finds styling kashta (hard) or a makeup artist looking to expand your portfolio, you will get hands-on training.
We practice on real models, not just dummies, so you can handle textures and drapes the way you will on a real wedding day. By the end of the session, my goal is for you to leave with the confidence to say, Nanage idu baruttide (I can do this). We provide the certification, but the real value is the career support and the practical skills you take with you to your first booking.
