Behind the Scenes: My Handmade Process & Market Life

Step into my studio and market stall life. Here is a peek at how I turn simple yarn into little pieces of handmade joy for your home.

This was our first pop-up market of the year, and I loved every minute of it. It's so wonderful to meet customers in person and see them connect with my work.

A look at all the stock I prepared for a recent Christmas market. I had a collection of crochet toys, macrame coasters, and festive rainbow ornaments.

About this collection

When I am not at a pop-up market, you will usually find me in my studio, working with soft cotton cord or hypoallergenic yarn. I like to keep my process transparent—from the initial knotting and stitching to the final packaging—so you know exactly how your piece is crafted with care before it reaches your home.

Making handmade items is more than just a business for me, it is a way to share love. When I prepare for pop-up markets, like our recent Christmas event, the days leading up to it are a whirlwind of knotting, stuffing, and wrapping. Seeing customers pick up a macrame coaster or a crochet toy and smile is the best part of the experience. It makes the long hours and the occasional back ache from working on giant rugs totally worth it.

My process is rooted in patience. Whether I am creating a custom name hanging or a bulk order for return gifts, I take the time to get the details right. I use 100% biodegradable cotton cords for my macrame work because it is gentle on the skin and sustainable. For my amigurumi toys, I use soft milk cotton and secure lock-nut safety eyes, so they are safe even for the little ones in your family.

Everything you see here is made to order, which means we can play with colours and designs together. If you have a theme for your event or a specific corner in your home that needs a bit of texture, just let me know. I love creating pieces that feel personal and unique, rather than something mass-produced. If you are in Bangalore, I would love to help you with your next gift or decor project, and I offer free shipping on all local orders.

I am Shikha, and I spend most of my days tangled in yarn, turning simple cords into pieces that make people smile. There is a lot of heart in my work, from the early hours prepping for market stalls to the quiet, careful knotting that happens right here in my studio.
