About Happy Guests: Solo Portraits
I need a small, well-lit corner at your venue with two chairs to set up my easel. While I focus on the individual, the drawing process becomes a mini-show, so placing me near the main mingling area works best to keep the flow smooth and make the sketching part of the event's entertainment.
People often ask if live sketching slows down a party. The reality is that it adds energy. I sketch 10 to 12 faces every hour, which means guests aren't waiting long, and they get to watch the transformation happen in real-time. I use high-quality, archival-grade A4 or A3 paper, and every portrait goes straight into a transparent sleeve, so it stays crisp even if the party goes late.
My style is about quick, clean lines with a splash of neon or pastel color to make things pop. Whether I am at a college fest in Pune or a wedding in Bangalore, I adapt to the vibe. I switch between Hindi, Marathi, and English to make everyone comfortable while they sit for their sketch.
Practical details for your event:
- Setup: I bring my own portable easel and drawing gear. I just need you to provide the space, two chairs, and good lighting.
- Interaction: I am a national gold medalist in cartooning, but the best part is seeing the reaction when I turn the board around. It is a moment of surprise that usually turns into a group of friends laughing and saying, "Are tyacha tar kadh na!" (Draw that one too!).
That energy is what I aim for at every event, whether it's a birthday, corporate mixer, or a wedding sangeet. If you are looking for something more than paper, I also offer live T-shirt caricatures, but for a crowd-pleasing, quick-turnaround activity, these solo paper portraits are the most reliable option.
