Retail and Hospitality Lighting Design
In retail and hospitality, light does more than illuminate—it guides, comforts, and defines the experience. Whether it is highlighting merchandise or creating a warm hotel entrance, we craft spaces that leave a lasting impression.
In this luxury bathroom showroom, my goal was to create a dramatic and aspirational mood. I used adjustable track spotlights to precisely highlight the bathtub and decor, while soft, indirect light from under the tub and behind the mirror adds a layer of warmth and sophistication.
The exterior lighting of a hospitality project like the Museum Inn is the first welcome guests receive. I carefully selected the light intensity and placement to enhance the building's beautiful architecture, creating an impressive and memorable first impression.
About Retail & Hospitality Environments
In retail showrooms like the Quattroluxe project, I prioritize 'beam angle planning'—using precise, narrow 10-degree spots to create visual hierarchy. It is not just about making products bright; it is about ensuring the merchandise pops while the rest of the space remains comfortable for customers to browse.
For retail and hospitality venues, the stakes are different. You are not just lighting a floor; you are setting a stage.
Retail: High-CRI and Precision
In showrooms, lighting needs to do heavy lifting. We specify fixtures with a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of over 90, which ensures that the colors your customers see are true to life. We use complex joinery integration to hide light sources in shelves and cabinets, ensuring the product remains the hero. By carefully planning beam angles, we direct footfall and highlight specific merchandise, creating a shopping experience that feels curated rather than generic.
Hospitality: Atmosphere and Architecture
For hotels, bars, and restaurants, the goal is often mood-making. We use a layered lighting approach—combining ambient, decorative, and accent lights—to transition a space from day to night. For exterior facade work, like our project at the Museum Inn, we move beyond basic floodlighting. We use framing projectors and wall-wash techniques to highlight architectural details, ensuring the building looks as inviting after dark as it does during the day. We also integrate DALI and DMX control systems, allowing you to automate lighting scenes so the ambiance shifts automatically with your business hours.
Our Process
We do not just hand over a plan and leave. We provide:
- Dialux Simulations: To ensure your space meets the required Lux levels before a single fixture is installed.
- Vendor-Neutral BOQs: We give you the technical specs so you can source fixtures cost-effectively without being locked into specific brands.
- Site Supervision: We handle focusing sessions, manually aiming and adjusting track heads to ensure the final result matches the initial design vision.
Light Inspired Thinking
I am Harshita, and I believe every commercial space has a story waiting to be told through light. We obsess over the technical details—from the CRI index that makes colors true in your showroom to the DMX controls that set the right mood in your lobby—because we want your space to feel as intentional as it is functional.
