About Classical Bharathanatyam: Practice & Performance
We teach Bharathanatyam with a deep respect for tradition, meaning our studio sessions are a dedicated space for practice. You will be barefoot, practicing Namaskaram, and learning to the rhythm of Carnatic vocal tracks. It is a focused environment, but one where we guide you through every posture correction and mudra with patience, whether you are picking up your first steps or refining your stage expression.
Our Approach to Classical Training
We believe Bharathanatyam is much more than just a dance style—it is active meditation. Our foundation course is designed to bring you into that headspace, focusing on the core elements of the art form: Nritta (pure dance steps), Adavus (basic movements), Mudras (hand gestures), and Abhinaya (expressions).
What to Expect in Class
We keep our sessions structured to ensure you get the most out of your training:
- Environment: Our studio provides the right atmosphere for classical training, with full-length mirrors to help you monitor your spinal posture.
- Technique: We guide you from the basics of rhythm (Tala) to the history of the movements, helping you build both physical stamina and mental focus.
- Protocol: As this is a classical art form, we maintain traditional etiquette, including a strict Namaskaram at the start and end of every session.
- Personal Guidance: We provide hands-on posture correction to ensure your movements are technically sound, which is essential for both daily practice and stage performance.
Who Should Join?
Whether you are an absolute beginner wanting to explore Bharathanatyam or a dancer looking to refine your technique for a performance, our weekend and evening batches are built for you. We focus on the 'why' behind the movement, not just the 'how'. If you are ready to invest time into learning an art form that heals, builds focus, and lifts your spirit, come join us at our Bengaluru studio.
