This handcrafted wood artifact features a unique perforated design, playing with light and shadow. Mounted on a simple teak base, it stands as a distinctive accent for any interior.

This image shows a grouping of my handcrafted wood artifacts. The different textures, from ribbed carvings to smooth, natural driftwood forms, create a visually rich display.
A pair of contrasting artifacts. One features the perforated design, while the other is a more solid, gnarled piece of teak, showcasing the diverse forms found in nature.
These two disc-shaped artifacts are carved with a ribbed texture and feature natural imperfections. They have an almost mask-like quality, adding a touch of mystery and character.
Two abstract artifacts inspired by driftwood. Their raw, organic shapes are preserved and mounted on simple bases, celebrating the untamed beauty of natural wood.

Here, one of my driftwood-inspired artifacts is styled on a floating teak shelf. It serves as a beautiful focal point, adding a sculptural element to the wall.
This rustic, hand-carved wooden bowl is filled with potpourri, serving as a beautiful and fragrant centerpiece for a dining or coffee table. Its organic shape adds a touch of nature.

About Sculptural Wood Art & Decor
Each piece here begins as a raw, salvaged section of teak root or driftwood. I spend hours hand-polishing these to reveal the natural grain and organic shape, ensuring that what you take home is a living piece of art, not just a mass-produced decoration. These sculptures work best when placed on a low-light console or floating ledge, allowing the natural wood textures to stand out without competing with other household items.
My approach to wood art is rooted in the philosophy that nature rarely needs correction. Whether it is an abstract root section mounted on a sleek metal rod or a detailed Ganesha idol, I look for the story already inside the wood. I use reclaimed teak off-cuts because the material is dense, resilient, and possesses a rich, golden hue that only gets better with time.
For those looking for spiritual elements, my carved idols are designed to be focal points of calm. They are distinct from mass-produced resin or plastic replicas; you can feel the weight of the solid teak and see the deliberate hand-carving that follows the natural grain.
If you are styling a dining or coffee table, I recommend the hand-turned wooden bowls. They are finished with food-safe oils and are meant to be used, not just watched. Over time, these pieces develop a unique patina that adds depth to your room. If you are in Bangalore, drop by my Indiranagar studio to see these in person. Holding a piece of hand-carved teak gives you a sense of the material's weight and soul that photographs simply cannot capture. We focus on ensuring every piece is sustainable, long-lasting, and distinctly yours, or as we like to say, bilkul teak hai.
Kursi Studio
I started Kursi with a simple belief that your home shouldn't feel like a showroom. Every abstract sculpture and hand-carved idol I create comes from a piece of raw, reclaimed teak, shaped to bring warmth and a sense of calm into your everyday spaces.
