About Aapki Kahani, Meri Mehndi Mein
Getting a portrait done takes serious patience—it is not just about drawing lines, it is about capturing a face accurately. When I do portrait work, I use 0.3mm tip cones and 3D shading to ensure the figures actually look like you. Please keep in mind that this level of detail requires a dedicated 3 to 4 hours of sitting, so plan your ceremony schedule accordingly.
Your Story, My Mehndi
I have spent 25 years perfecting the art of henna, but portrait work is where I truly challenge myself. Whether it is a couple portrait for your wedding, a baby Ganesha for a baby shower, or specific rituals like the 'Channi' sieve for Karwa Chauth, I treat every hand as a fresh canvas to tell a story.
How I Do It
- The Technique: I use 0.3mm tip cones for fine-line detailing. This allows me to draw facial features and text with precision that a standard cone cannot manage.
- The Depth: Instead of flat lines, I use 3D shading techniques to give the figures depth and life.
- The Material: I use home-mixed, chemical-free, organic henna that I have personally matured for 24 hours. You get a deep, dark stain without worrying about skin irritation.
Before You Book
- Consultation: Once you book, we will sit down to finalise the reference photos. Good lighting and clear photos make for the best portraits.
- The Time: This is not a quick application. For realistic portrait work, expect 3 to 4 hours of dedicated time. I provide a lap pillow for your comfort, but be prepared for a long session.
- Aftercare: Since I use high-quality natural henna, the aftercare is simple but important. I will walk you through the clove steam treatment to help lock in that dark color before you wash it off.
