Behind the Canvas: My Painting Process

Welcome to my creative space, where every painting begins with a bit of chaos, a lot of love, and two cats who think they are my official studio assistants.

My cat Chiku, the aspiring artist, inspecting my work on a lotus pond painting. He seems to think my brush would make a better toy. Life in the studio is never dull with my furry companions.

Christmas vibes in the studio with my brush thieves. My cats love to play with my supplies, but they are the best company a painter could ask for.

About Studio Life: My Process & Companions

My studio is a bit of a chaotic sanctuary. While I work on acrylic canvas pieces, my cats Chiku and Sandy often 'help' by batting at my brushes or trying to walk across a drying layer of paint. It is a messy, heartfelt reality that goes into every piece I make, and I would not have it any other way.

A lot of my work starts outdoors. You will often find me at Cubbon Park with my sketchbook, capturing the green of the trees or the morning light. These sketches are where ideas form before they ever touch a canvas. Whether I am working on a custom portrait or a Kerala mural, the process remains the same, slow and deliberate.

I use high-quality acrylics because they allow for vibrant color and lasting protection. When you commission a piece, you are not just getting a painting. You are getting hours of careful layers, specific brushwork, and a bit of the 'life is love' philosophy that keeps me going. From the first pencil mark to the final coat of varnish, everything is done by hand right here in my Bangalore studio. If you are curious about how a portrait or a mural comes to life, or if you have an idea for a custom piece, let us chat about turning that thought into art.

I am Biji, a painter here in Bangalore. My studio is pretty simple, just me, my paints, and my cats, Chiku and Sandy, who are usually busy 'helping' by stealing my brushes. I paint from the heart, and I would love to create something special for your home.
