Bold, Contemporary Interiors and Custom Design
This is a snapshot of my design philosophy—where wild, out-of-the-box ideas meet calm, functional spaces. From the Monster Collection to serene, minimalist sanctuaries, here is how I bring a vibe to life.
This is what I mean by making a slap. We created this "Monster Console" from a single block of marble. It’s not just a piece of furniture; it’s functional art with built-in storage, speakers, and lights. It’s a wild idea that just works.
This is Project 86, a bachelor pad where we went all out. We mixed iconic pieces like the Roche Bobois Bubble couch with a bold yellow bar and pop art. This is how we create a living room that’s not just for living, but for making a statement.
To show I do more than just "crazy," here’s a guest house in Gujarat. We used a soft, earthy palette, lime-plastered walls, and organic curves to create a space that feels calm and asks you to pause. It’s all about creating a feeling, not just a look.
The client asked, "Can we build a full-scale Indian temple inside a wooden house in the USA?" Challenge accepted. We used lightweight FRP to mimic heavy carved stone, creating an authentic mandir that respects the building's structure. This is problem-solving with soul.
For this kid's room, we designed a fun yet practical space. The arched bed nook, terrazzo platform with hidden storage, and a loft bed accessed by a ladder make it a personal playground. It’s about creating a room that grows with them.
I love using color to create a mood. This bathroom is wrapped entirely in a deep, immersive maroon, balanced by a freestanding tub and a dramatic marble counter. It’s bold, unapologetic, and turns a functional room into a personal sanctuary.
A quick tour of the master bedroom in Project 86. We used a stunning Edra cabana bed as the centerpiece, angled it away from the walls, and integrated the bathroom to create one large, flowing space. It’s about breaking the rules of a typical layout.
About this collection
When I take on a project, I don't just hand you a mood board. I handle the entire lifecycle, from structural reconfigurations and lighting plans to fabricating custom furniture like my Monster consoles. If your space needs to be a home office today and a guest suite tomorrow, we solve the structural layout first before we even look at the paint colours.
I don't do cookie-cutter design. My process starts with your vision, not a catalogue. Whether we are flipping a 4BHK into a gym-lover’s home or installing a full-scale mandir in a wooden house in the US, I focus on the 'why' before the 'what.'
My Design Philosophy
I am not here to follow trends. If you want a Pinterest-perfect copy, you can hire a contractor. I am here for the crazy ideas that make you feel something. My work relies on layering—textures like lime plaster, warm wood, and brushed brass—to create a mood. I obsess over the small stuff, like magnetic lighting tracks and custom switchboards, because these are the things that actually make a house a home.
The Process
- Concept & Planning: We sit down and figure out what you actually need. No fluff, just honest conversations about your lifestyle.
- Structural Integrity: My team handles the messy stuff—layout changes, bathroom overhauls, and structural reinforcements. We don't just decorate; we rebuild.
- Custom Execution: I design custom furniture under my own label. If we need a marble bench that doubles as a speaker system, we build it. If we need hidden tech, we integrate it.
I work across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area and take on projects across India. If you want a home that feels like a sensory experience rather than just a place to live, let's talk.
Karan Desai
I'm Karan. I'd rather build something that makes a statement than something safe. Whether it’s a high-energy party pad in Mumbai or a quiet, lime-plastered guest house in Gujarat, I’m all about creating a vibe that feels like you.
