Traditional attire tells a story of heritage and grace. Whether for a brand lookbook or personal documentation, I focus on the drape, the texture, and the emotion behind every fold of silk and weave.

This video showcases a beautiful hand-painted yellow saree in an outdoor setting. The natural light and movement highlight the intricate artwork and the graceful drape of the fabric.

A conceptual ethnic portrait inspired by Frida Kahlo. The red floral headband and off-shoulder drape create a powerful and artistic image that blends tradition with a fine art aesthetic.

About this collection

I treat a saree shoot with the same attention as a fine art portrait. My approach balances the technical aspects of fabric rendering, ensuring the drape and texture are distinct, with the atmospheric storytelling that traditional wear demands. If you have a specific collection or a family heirloom you want to document, we spend time adjusting the styling to ensure the garment takes center stage without losing the person wearing it.

The art of draping a saree is nuanced, and my photography aims to reflect that. Working across Bangalore, from my Whitefield studio to outdoor locations, I have learned that the success of an ethnic wear shoot lies in the details. When shooting textiles like Kanjivaram silk, Tussar, or hand-painted fabrics, my focus is on maintaining accurate color reproduction while capturing the movement and fluidity of the material.

Many of my sessions for local brands involve collaborative styling, where we coordinate makeup and accessories to complement the garment’s mood. Whether we are aiming for a classic editorial look with dramatic studio lighting or a soft, natural lifestyle aesthetic, the goal is to make the garment look as authentic as it feels.

For those planning a shoot for a personal ethnic collection, I suggest bringing a few different accessories or blouse options to create variety within the session. We also incorporate props like traditional furniture or clean, minimal backgrounds to ensure the focus remains on the outfit's intricate embroidery or weave. If you are looking to showcase your brand's heritage or simply want to capture the beauty of a family heirloom, I work with you to plan the lighting and composition that best highlights the texture and spirit of the piece.

I am a photographer in Bangalore who believes that traditional wear carries a weight of memory and culture. I do not just shoot clothes; I look for the way the fabric catches the light and the personality it brings out in the person wearing it. It is about honoring the craft.
