I capture the grace of silk sarees and lehengas through a lens that respects tradition. Whether it is a quiet portrait or a movement-focused shot, I find the story in the fabric and the natural light.

A dreamy ethnic portrait featuring a glittering yellow lehenga. I used a stone archway and atmospheric smoke to frame the shot, creating a fairytale-like setting for this outdoor fashion photo.

A classic South Indian bridal look. This portrait, shot indoors, uses directional light to highlight the rich texture of the yellow silk saree and the intricate details of the temple jewelry.

Capturing movement and joy in a modern ethnic outfit. This shot showcases a unique ruffled lehenga-saree, with the model's twirl creating a dynamic and lively fashion portrait.

An elegant studio portrait in a soft pink lehenga. The simple, dark background makes the delicate embroidery and the model's happy expression the main focus of the image.

A regal portrait featuring a dark navy blue Banarasi silk saree. The outdoor setting with a traditional brass lamp adds a cultural and timeless context to this ethnic fashion photograph.

A minimalist and elegant portrait in a classic white and black Kerala saree. The clean lines and soft, natural light create a serene and sophisticated look.

A contemporary fusion wear portrait. This image showcases a stylish lehenga with a long floral jacket, capturing the flow and structure of the outfit against a modern architectural backdrop.

About this collection

My approach to ethnic wear goes beyond simple posing. I focus on how the fabric moves and interacts with light, whether you are wearing a heritage Banarasi saree or a modern fusion lehenga. We will spend time finding the right background in Bangalore, so the architecture or greenery complements your outfit rather than distracting from it.

How We Shoot Ethnic Portraits

When we plan an ethnic shoot, the goal is to capture the kahi ankahi baatein (things unsaid) between the subject and the outfit. It is not just about the clothes; it is about how you carry them.

The Process

  • Natural Light Focus: I prefer using natural light for traditional wear. It brings out the genuine sheen of silk and the intricate textures of embroidery without the harshness of artificial studio lights. If we are shooting outdoors in Bangalore, we will time it for the golden hour to get that soft, warm glow.
  • Movement and Grace: Static portraits have their place, but I love capturing movement. Whether it is the twirl of a lehenga or the drape of a saree, these moments show the outfit's true character.
  • Your Comfort: If you are not a professional model, that is perfectly fine. I provide simple guidance to help you relax, so your expression stays natural and you do not look stiff in your traditional attire.

Technical Details

I handle the retouching process personally to ensure the skin tones remain natural. I avoid heavy filters that flatten the image, preferring to keep the focus on the sharp details of your jewelry and the richness of the fabric colors. If you have a specific vision, like a moody vintage look or a bright, high-key editorial style, let me know before we begin.
