My Makeup Philosophy and Creative Process
People think makeup is just 'paint adikira velai' (painting). For me, it is about enhancing your real beauty. Here is a look at my journey, my philosophy, and how I work to make you feel like the best version of yourself.
A little bit about my journey. Makeup has helped me overcome my insecurities and find my voice. I'm so grateful for my clients, my team, and everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey.
About My Art & Process
When I work, I always start by listening to your specific concerns. Whether you are worried about ashy tones, heavy foundations, or finding a shade that actually matches your undertone, we address it before a single brush touches your skin. It is not just about the final look but about ensuring you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin throughout your ceremony.
I often get asked why I am so particular about the products in my kit. It is simple: I struggled to find shades that worked on my own brown skin for years. That is why I do not believe in one-size-fits-all makeup. If you tell me, 'Enaku eyes adhe mari look... kanna mattum konjam perusa kaatunga' (make my eyes look bigger), I listen to that specific request instead of forcing a trending style on you.
My process is built on a few core beliefs:
- Enhancement, Not Masking: My goal is always to make your skin look like skin. We use HD bases that are long-lasting but breathable. If you do not want a heavy base, I will never give you one.
- Color Theory for Brown Skin: I invest in pigments and foundations that respect Indian undertones. This prevents that common ashy look in photos and keeps your complexion glowing under bright stage lights.
- Collaborative Styling: I see makeup as a conversation. From the way we drape a 9-yard Madisar to the placement of fresh jasmine in your hair, every detail is decided with you.
Working at odd hours and traveling for weddings might sound intense to some, but seeing that moment when a bride looks in the mirror and smiles—that is the fuel that keeps me going. Whether we are prepping for a Christian wedding in Bangalore or a traditional Muhurtham in Chennai, my focus stays the same: making sure you feel like yourself, just elevated.
