About Complete Bridal Styling: Hair & Saree Draping
Draping isn’t just about pinning a saree; it is about creating a fall and pleat structure that keeps you comfortable for hours. I focus on technical draping that stays secure, even with heavy Kanjeevarams or intricate reception lehengas, so you can move, sit, and dance without constantly worrying about your outfit.
Your wedding day is long, and the last thing you should be doing is adjusting your hair or saree pins. When I style a bride, I look at the entire silhouette. Whether we are doing a traditional Madisar drape, a heavy reception lehenga with a can-can, or a contemporary saree for your engagement, my goal is to ensure the drape supports your movement.
My Approach to Bridal Styling
Hair Artistry I love working with traditional elements like malli poo (fresh jasmine) and temple jewellery. If your hair needs more volume for that intricate braid, I use extensions to create fullness without making it feel heavy. For receptions, I often pivot to romantic, textured waves or elegant low buns that frame your face. I always test the weight of your accessories beforehand to make sure your hairstyle holds up through the entire event.
Technical Draping It is not just about tucking and pinning. I account for the fabric of your saree. A soft Kanjeevaram requires different pleating techniques than a stiff silk or a flowing georgette gown. I focus on technical draping to ensure your pleats are sharp and your pallu stays exactly where it needs to be. I also ensure your jewellery, especially heavy waist belts or Nethichutti, is set securely so it doesn't snag your outfit or shift as you walk.
Planning Ahead I usually spend 2.5 to 4 hours on the full styling process, depending on the complexity of the hair and drape. If you have specific ideas from Pinterest or a family tradition you want to incorporate, let me know. I am happy to adapt classic South Indian styles to fit your personal comfort and modern vision.
