About The Grind: Hip-Hop Ain't Dead
If you're booking me for your venue, know that I hold a strict genre policy: I play strictly 90s/00s Hip-Hop, R&B, and Afro beats. I don't do commercial Bollywood or EDM, so we keep the sound completely urban. For the best experience, I require Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS2 or 3000 decks provided on-site to handle my transitions properly.
My Philosophy on The Grind
The Grind isn't just a playlist; it's a movement. I got tired of not hearing the real tracks in the city, so I created my own space to keep hip-hop culture alive. When I'm at the console, my goal is simple: if it hypes me up, it's going to hype the crowd. That means a mix of 90s nostalgia, golden-era hip-hop, and modern Afro beats to close out the night.
How I Work
My sets are interactive and high-energy. I'm not the DJ who hides behind the laptop; I'm engaging with the dancefloor, and I usually bring my partner, MC Bobkat, to keep the energy levels high. We focus on reading the room, managing transitions between genre shifts, and making sure the vibe stays consistent from the first warm-up track to the final banger.
