The Fam: Hip-Hop Community and DJ Collaborations
My sets aren't just about the music. They’re about the movement, the artists I rep, and the family we’ve built on the dancefloor. Here’s a look at the people and the energy that keep hip-hop alive in the city.
I love connecting with the artists who perform at my nights. Here's a Q&A with rapper Neerajomatic, where he talks about why The Grind feels like a family movement.
It's all about the community. Here I am chopping it up with the krump collective Bombay Buck after their fire performance at The Grind. This is what it means to be family.
A sit down with the amazing trilingual rapper Tracy De Sa. We talked about her music, her journey, and what it's like being a woman in the hip-hop industry.
A screenshot of my interview with Rolling Stone India. It was a huge moment for me to talk about my decade long journey behind the decks.
A shot of me against a wall of classic rock posters. Whether I'm a superthug or a superstar, I'm always myself.
Another look from the "Superthug or a Super ⭐️" shoot. It's about embracing all sides of my personality.
This photo captures my confidence and love for the culture. The hip-hop sign says it all.
About this collection
When I bring my team to an event, we aren't just there to play tracks; we’re there to manage the room's energy together. Whether it's me on the decks and MC Bobkat holding down the mic or collaborating with a local dance crew, we create a back-and-forth flow that keeps the crowd locked into the set all night.
Community is the heart of what I do. I didn't just become a DJ; I started my own nights like 'The Grind' and 'Homie' because I wanted to cultivate a space where hip-hop heads, dancers, and casual listeners could actually connect.
Why I Bring The Crew
Booking a solo DJ is one thing, but booking an interactive experience is how you make a party memorable. I frequently team up with MC Bobkat to handle live rapping and crowd hype. When we perform, it’s not just a setlist—it’s a dynamic performance. The DJ-MC dynamic allows us to read the room in real-time, switching up the energy between classic 90s hip-hop, heavy-hitting R&B, or even Dancehall segments if the crowd is feeling it.
Collaborations and Pop-ups
I don't stay in one lane. I love linking up with local talent, whether it’s a beatboxer, a street dance crew like Bombay Buck, or a trilingual rapper like Tracy De Sa. These collaborations are what define my events. If you are planning a corporate launch, a private party, or a club night in Mumbai or Pune, I can help curate a lineup that brings that authentic underground energy to your venue.
The Logistics
To make this work, I have specific requirements to ensure the sound quality stays crisp. For duo performances with an MC, we need two high-quality wireless microphones (like the Shure SM58) in addition to the standard DJ console. We aim for an environment similar to the lounge vibe at Khar Social or Bonobo, where the acoustics allow the music to hit hard without overwhelming the space. We’re here to work with you to make the sound and the flow hit exactly right for your event.
Ishani
I’m DJ Ishani, and for the last ten years, I’ve been building a community around the music I love. When you hire me, you aren't just booking a DJ; you're bringing that 'Grind' energy and my whole crew of collaborators to your party.
