About Pro Tips for Flawless Makeup
Real talk: a flawless base isn't just magic, it's all about preparation. If you have oily skin, stop getting ready in front of a fan—you need an AC room, or your base will slip within an hour. For my winter brides, your skin changes, so you need to switch to heavy cream-based moisturizers the night before to stop that flaky texture. These small details are exactly why my brides stay looking fresh from the Nikkah ceremony until the reception.
Prep is Everything
I always tell my students at the academy: a makeup artist is only as good as their skin prep. If the canvas isn't right, even the most expensive foundation won't work. Here is how you can help me help you:
Managing Oily Skin If you have oily skin, do an ice massage 20 minutes before I arrive. It cools your skin and naturally slows down sebum production. And please, listen to this—do not get your makeup done under a fan. Even if it's hot, you must be in an air-conditioned room. If your skin is sweating while I am applying the base, it simply won't last. My guarantee of a long-lasting base relies on you being in a cool environment.
Winter & Dry Skin Care When the weather changes, your skin changes. If you are a winter bride, your skin will likely get dry. Don't wait until the day of the event to moisturize. Start the night before. Use a heavy, cream-based moisturizer before you sleep so your skin is hydrated by morning. This prevents your foundation from looking patchy or cakey.
The 'No-Go' Rules One thing I always say to my brides: remove your facial hair. I can give you 80% coverage, but that last 20% depends entirely on your skin texture. If you have peach fuzz or facial hair, the makeup will sit on top of the hair instead of blending into the skin.
Follow these tips, and let’s create some magic together, Masha'allah.
