About Hand-Tied Bouquets & Arrangements
Most people think a bouquet is just holding flowers together, but the secret is in the spiral grip. In our classes, I will show you how to clean every stem properly and layer them to achieve that perfect, stable dome shape that stays firm without damaging the petals. It is not about how many flowers you use, but how you hold and arrange them so they actually last.
Learning the spiral technique isn't just a party trick; it is the foundation of professional floristry. When you arrange flowers in a spiral, the stems support each other, keeping the bouquet balanced and preventing the flower heads from drooping. At IFD, we strip your stems of foliage and thorns—a step beginners often skip—to ensure the bouquet sits comfortably in the hand and does not rot in the water.
