About Advanced Floral Techniques
You might already know how to put a few flowers together, but advanced design is really about mechanics. In these sessions, we shift focus from just aesthetics to structural integrity—learning how to use specific wiring, knotting techniques, and hydration methods so your garlands and designs hold up perfectly through a long wedding ceremony or event.
Advanced floral design is where your creativity meets true skill. While our hobby workshops focus on the joy of creating, our Advanced Technical Masterclass and Wedding Artistry Specialist courses go into the 'why' and 'how' of professional floristry. We cover intricate techniques like leaf manipulation, spiral grip, and specialized knotting for traditional garlands.
What You Will Learn
- Garland Mechanics: We move beyond basic threading. You will learn how to use professional materials like bullion wire, fine floral glue, and structural bases to create garlands that are durable yet delicate.
- Material Handling: Learn to work with commercial-grade quantities of orchids, tagar, and tuberoses. We teach you how to source and prep these so they stay fresh.
- Wedding Artistry: For those entering the industry, we dive into full saleable units. This includes bridal jewellery sets like maang tikkas, necklaces, and haath phools, giving you a tangible portfolio piece by the end of the course.
Our classes are held in small groups at our centres in Dadar West, Mumbai, and Narayan Peth, Pune. We keep batches small so you get direct, hands-on feedback from our senior faculty on your hand positioning and construction. This is about giving you the confidence to take on wedding projects or specialized commissions without the stress of guessing if your work will hold together.
Institute of Floral Design
We are the IFD team. For 14 years, we have helped students go from 'I like flowers' to 'I created this.' We believe in teaching, not competing, so we share every technical trick we know to help you bloom.
