Butterfly Series: Contemporary Metal Wall Installations
Where industrial steel meets the fragile grace of flight. My Butterfly series explores transformation and light, creating dynamic statement pieces for modern interiors.
"Metamorphosis in Metal," a large circular wall installation. A vortex of colorful butterfly wings surrounds a center of crumpled, reflective steel, symbolizing the powerful energy at the heart of transformation.
A recent butterfly art installation for a stunning home. This piece flows across the wall, with a base of crumpled gold steel giving way to a cascade of vibrant polycarbonate wings.
"A Symphony of Wings," a vertical wall installation that captures the essence of metamorphosis. This video shows how the piece interacts with the light from a nearby window, enhancing its sense of movement.
"Wings of Resilience," a 48" x 48" installation. This piece captures collective flight through a vibrant fusion of butterfly forms and reflective metallic elements, inviting contemplation on evolution and change.

This video shows the behind-the-scenes process of installing my sculptures for a group show at the India Art Festival. It takes a team to bring these large-scale visions to life.
A detailed video tour of "Wings of Resilience." The camera moves over the layered surfaces, showing the dynamic interplay of light, shadow, and color that brings the piece to life.

About Butterfly Series: Wings of Resilience
Every butterfly installation I create uses a hidden French cleat mounting system, giving the piece a floating effect one to two inches off your wall. This gap allows natural light to interact with the stainless steel base, causing the reflections and shadow play to shift as the sun moves across your room.
When I began working with metal, I wanted to move away from purely rigid, cold structures. In this series, I combine industrial, mirror-polished 304-grade stainless steel with layered polycarbonate wings to create a study in movement. These pieces are designed to be focal points, capturing that split second of flight rather than a static image.
For collectors in Mumbai, my team handles the professional mounting directly. For those outside the city, I provide full-scale paper templates to ensure your installer gets the placement exactly right on the first try. Since I use reflective finishes like silver, gold, and rose gold, these sculptures react to the surrounding environment, essentially absorbing the colors and light of your living room or lobby.
Whether you are considering a piece like 'Wings of Resilience' or a custom installation, the material choices are intentional. The steel provides the structural 'resilience' while the polycarbonate wings offer the vibrant, 'butterfly' transformation. If you are curious about how a specific finish would sit against your existing wall texture or color, we should talk about the spatial requirements.
Hitesh Gilder
I moved from the business world to sculpture because I needed to make things with my hands. I treat my Butterfly series as a dialogue between the industrial strength of stainless steel and the delicate, fleeting nature of life. My goal is to create work that feels alive, shifting and reflecting your space in real-time.
