Miniature Terrariums and Kokedama Decor
Small spaces deserve big personality. Our hand-built terrariums and Kokedamas bring vibrant, living art to your desk or home, requiring minimal fuss but offering maximum joy.
This rectangular glass terrarium is a little landscape I built by hand. It features carefully arranged layers of sand and soil, housing a variety of miniature plants like ferns and succulents to create a balanced, living piece of art.
Looking for the perfect small gift? This collection shows some lovely options, including a charming bowl terrarium filled with Fittonia plants, ideal for a desk or side table.
About Miniature Green Worlds: Terrariums & Kokedama
These aren't just decorative pieces; they are miniature, self-contained ecosystems. We layer gravel, activated charcoal, and specialized soil to ensure the roots stay healthy without you needing to fuss over them constantly, making them the perfect low-maintenance green addition to any Mumbai workspace.
Building Your Tiny World
Every terrarium we craft in our Chembur studio is a balancing act of nature. We start with a drainage layer of gravel, followed by activated charcoal to keep the ecosystem fresh and odor-free, and finally, a nutrient-rich soil mix. This layering is what allows these miniature gardens to thrive with minimal watering, as the moisture recycles within the glass enclosure.
Why Choose Kokedama?
Kokedama, the Japanese art of wrapping plant roots in a moss ball, is a favorite for those who want greenery without the bulk of a pot. These hanging or table-top beauties are fantastic for desks, bookshelves, or bedside tables. They are lighter, more sculptural, and add an immediate earthy charm to a room.
Caring for Your Terrarium
Because these are closed or semi-closed environments, they prefer bright, indirect light rather than harsh, direct sun, which can overheat the glass. We usually use humidity-loving plants like Fittonia, small ferns, or moss, which absolutely love the environment inside.
Gifting Green
Whether it is a corporate gift, a Secret Santa surprise, or a housewarming gesture, these small green worlds are designed to be low-effort and high-impact. If you have a specific theme in mind—maybe some sand art from a favorite beach trip or a specific set of figurines—we can often incorporate those details to make the piece truly yours. Every piece we make is a living gift that grows, unlike plastic decor that just sits there.
