Professional Hair Styling: Product Knowledge & Hacks

Hairstyling is as much about the products as it is about the technique. From mastering hold sprays to using volume powders correctly, I share the secrets to getting that perfect look every time.

Learn the correct way to use holding spray. I explain how to control the pressure and distance for a perfect, non-sticky hold every time.

In this video, I explain how and when to use a mattifying volume powder like Osis+ Dust It to tackle oily hair and get amazing volume for backcombing.

Here I demonstrate the correct use of shine spray to control baby hair and frizz without weighing the hair down.

A very useful tip for many clients. I show the right way to use hair fibers to conceal thinning hair or bald patches for a fuller look.

About this collection

You don't need a heavy hand with your spray. I always tell my students to keep a gap between the nozzle and the hair to avoid that white, powdery residue and stiff feeling. It is all about smooth, controlled pressure for a flexible hold that actually lasts.

Using the right products is 50% of the game. If your spray makes hair heavy, it is not always the product—it is the application. When using hold sprays, like Taft, keep that distance. Spraying too close makes hair heavy and impossible to restyle.

For volume, don't just dump powder on top. Use mattifying volume powders like Osis+ Dust It by shaking it at the roots, keeping a two-finger gap. It absorbs oil and gives that instant lift needed for clean backcombing.

And for shine sprays? Remember, it is basically oil in a can. Keep it off the roots or the hair will look greasy instantly. Use it only on the ends for that finished glow. Finally, for hair fibers used to hide thinning spots, always lock it in with a hold spray first, then apply the fiber, and add a light spray on top to seal the deal.

I share all these technical secrets, from product choice to application tricks, in my masterclasses. Whether you are a beginner learning your tools or a stylist looking to upgrade your game, join me for a session where we clear every doubt.
