About Intricate Braids & Open Styles
For these intricate braids, the secret is not just in the braiding but in the base prep. I teach my students to focus on the 'pulling and spreading' technique, which gives that signature volume you see in my work. Without the right crimping and texturizing spray, the style will fall flat.
Creating styles like the Mermaid or Peacock braid isn't magic. It is about understanding texture and tension. In my hands-on workshops, we move past basic plaits to create these textured, voluminous looks that clients are asking for right now.
We start with the foundation. I teach you how to use a crimper to create a textured base, which prevents the hair from slipping and helps the braid hold its shape. Then, we work on the pulling technique. This is where you create the wide, flat sections that make the braid look thick and elegant.
I also show you how to choose the right accessories, like floral pins or pearls, to finish the look.
