About Romantic Waves & Half-Updos
I focus on the structure beneath the waves to ensure they actually last. Whether it is a soft half-updo for a Roka or voluminous curls for a Sangeet, I use specific pin-setting and cooling techniques so your style stays bouncy and intact from your first photo to your last dance.
Why Waves and Half-Updos are my Go-To
There is something timeless about romantic waves. They are versatile, framing your face beautifully while allowing you to wear your hair open. My approach to this style is rooted in architecture; I want your hair to look effortless, but it requires a solid foundation to stay that way.
The Process
When I work on your hair, I start with volume. If your natural hair needs a boost, I am a huge fan of using clip-in extensions. I blend them section by section so they disappear into your own hair, giving you that 'dreamy' thickness you see in magazines.
For the waves themselves, I use different barrel sizes—28mm or 32mm—depending on your hair length and the vibe of your outfit. If we are doing a half-updo, I secure the twist using specialized pins that stay hidden but provide a strong anchor.
Finishing Touches
Accessories change everything. A simple half-up style can turn into a bridal statement with a delicate pearl clip, a silk bow, or even fresh flowers like baby’s breath or mogras.
- For the Roka: We often go for face-framing braids or a simple twisted half-up look that works perfectly with a Maang Tikka.
- For the Sangeet: I recommend higher volume and tighter curls that can withstand the humidity and all that dancing.
I always finish with a light-to-medium hold spray. My goal is to ensure your hair feels soft to the touch, not stiff or crunchy, so you can run your fingers through it all night long.
