About South Indian Styles & Intricate Braids
Getting the weight of those traditional temple ornaments and fresh gajra right is everything. I build a solid foundation using high-quality extensions and structural padding so that your long braid or updo remains perfectly secure, comfortable, and elegant throughout the longest of wedding rituals.
South Indian bridal styling is a blend of heritage and engineering. Whether you are opting for a classic long braid or a structured updo, the goal is to make it look effortless while handling significant weight from temple jewelry, matha patti, and heavy floral strings.
My approach starts with your hair's natural texture and volume. If you want that traditional, waist-length braid look, I use premium, seamless extensions that blend naturally with your own hair. I don't just pin the flowers on; I weave them into the base of the braid to ensure they don't shift or wilt before the ceremony ends.
For the hair accessories—like the gold jadan or fresh jasmine—I use a specific anchoring technique with thread and heavy-duty pins. This is crucial because a South Indian wedding involves hours of movement, sitting, and standing. You should be able to focus on the rituals, not on keeping your headgear in place. I also love playing with floral choices, from the classic white jasmine to bold, statement lotus buds for that modern touch.
I am based in Mumbai, but I regularly travel across India for weddings. If you have a specific vision for your look, let's chat about your outfit and jewelry in advance so we can plan the perfect hairstyle to complement it.
