About Traditional Indian Attire
Lighting traditional Indian wear is a delicate balance. Whether it is the metallic sheen of a Banarasi lehenga or the subtle drape of a lightweight saree, I focus on capturing the fabric's actual texture and true color accuracy rather than just taking a bright picture. I adjust my studio lighting or utilize natural outdoor settings to ensure the embroidery and weaves stand out exactly as they do in person.
When shooting ethnic wear, the priority is to make the audience feel the fabric through the screen. My process starts by understanding the specific story behind the collection. Is it a festive luxury look or a daily wear cotton range? This dictates whether we shoot in my Sector 8, Faridabad studio with controlled lighting, or outdoors in a natural setting across Delhi NCR.
My Technical Approach
- Fabric Detail: I use macro-focused techniques to highlight the zari work, thread counts, and beadwork that define the value of a garment.
- Color Integrity: Ethnic wear relies on vibrant palettes. I ensure that reds, golds, and deep blues remain true to the original product, avoiding color shifts during editing.
- Movement & Silhouette: For lehengas and sarees, the drape is everything. I provide active art direction during the shoot to adjust the pleats and folds, ensuring the garment looks natural and elegant.
- Versatility: Whether you need a crisp catalog look for Amazon or Myntra, or a storytelling editorial shot for your Instagram lookbook, I adapt the shoot parameters to fit the platform.
I offer full-day editorial sessions for fashion campaigns and dedicated cataloging services for large inventories. Every project is handled with the same attention to detail—capturing the culture in every stitch.
