Live Charcoal Portraits for Events
I bring the raw, honest energy of charcoal sketching to your event. Watch as I capture your guests in quick, expressive portraits that feel more like a personality sketch than just a drawing.
There is a special magic in charcoal. Here's a look at my process for a live portrait, focusing on building shadows and highlights to capture not just a face, but a personality. This is what I call expressive portrait drawing.
A finished live portrait done with charcoal on paper. My goal is to capture a moment and an expression, using shading and contrast to bring out the subject's character. This is a quick and honest form of art.
Maja ata he live portrait banane me. This video shows the step by step creation of a charcoal portrait, from shaping the face to adding fine details with a pencil eraser for highlights.
This is a portrait from a live session, done with charcoal. I focused on the play of light on the subject's face to create a dramatic and thoughtful mood.
Beyond just faces, I also practice full-figure life sketching. This is a charcoal study of a live model, focusing on anatomy, posture, and composition.
About Live Charcoal Portraits
For each 3-hour session, I focus on creating detailed, realistic charcoal portraits on A4 or A3 paper, aiming for 12 to 15 sketches. I use professional willow charcoal and spray each piece with a fixative right there, so your guests walk away with a smudge-free, instant keepsake they can actually frame.
Capturing the Moment
There is a special kind of sukoon (peace) in watching a portrait come to life from a few simple charcoal strokes. When I sketch live at an event, my goal isn't just to copy a face. I look for the character and the story in the person sitting in front of me. Whether it's a quiet smile or a thoughtful gaze, I try to capture that energy on paper.
How the Session Works
- The Process: I start with loose shapes and gradually build layers, focusing on light and shadow to create depth. It takes about 12 to 15 minutes per guest.
- The Materials: I bring everything needed—my wooden tripod easel, drawing board, professional-grade willow charcoal, and fixative spray.
- The Output: Every guest gets their finished portrait in a transparent plastic sleeve to keep it safe.
What I Need From You
To make the magic happen, I really only need a little bit of space. Please arrange two chairs—one for the guest and one for me—and a small side table for my charcoal and pencils. Most importantly, a well-lit corner is essential. Good light helps me see the features clearly, which means a better sketch for your guest.
If you are planning an event in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, or across Uttar Pradesh and want something that feels organic and personal, let's talk. I am not looking to churn out caricatures; I am here to create sketches that hold real value for your attendees.
