Structural and Statement Furniture & Interiors
We believe architecture and furniture should communicate their own engineering. This collection explores spaces and objects where the structure is the primary aesthetic, from woven steel staircases to tables designed around the physics of load-bearing forms.
A spiral staircase designed for our own studio, connecting the main workspace to an interaction area above. The structure is composed of a "woven" steel support system and treads made from recycled teak wood, creating a functional sculpture.
This staircase is a central design feature, built from a single, folded steel plate and finished with dark wood treads. Its minimalist form and exposed construction make it a powerful statement piece that embodies our design principles.
The leg of this workstation is a statement in itself. By designing the steel supports to mimic their own force diagrams, we turn a purely functional requirement into the primary visual and conceptual element of the piece.
About Structural & Statement Pieces
When we design a table, the legs are not just support. We calculate the load and then sculpt the steel rods to reflect those forces visually. This means your furniture carries its weight with a purposeful, honest silhouette rather than hiding behind bulky, decorative panels.
For us, a design lacks integrity if it requires a cover-up. Whether we are fabricating a workstation with slender steel supports or constructing a spiral staircase, the goal is to make the engineering visible.
The Logic of Form
Our furniture design starts with a diagram of forces. We analyze how a piece needs to function—where the weight sits and how it transfers to the floor—and build the aesthetic around that logic. This is why you will see visible joinery, woven steel rods, and raw wood edges in our work. We treat steel as a light, structural material, not just a heavy frame.
Architectural Elements
We apply this same rigor to larger architectural features. A staircase, for instance, is often the most complex structural element in a home. In our recent projects, we have used folded steel plates and woven rod systems to create staircases that act as sculpture while remaining entirely functional. These pieces require precise fabrication and a deep understanding of material limits, which is why we handle the engineering and the aesthetic together.
Working with Raw Materials
We source seasoned teak, acacia, and industrial-grade steel to ensure that every piece ages well. We avoid artificial laminates or veneers that hide the core material. If you appreciate furniture that feels solid, honest, and technically sound, we are happy to discuss how we can bring this approach to your home or office space in Bengaluru.
