About Timeless in Monochrome
I do not just desaturate your photos to make them black and white. For me, monochrome is about isolating the raw interaction between two people. When the colour is removed, you are forced to look at the expressions, the brush of a hand, or the emotion in a tear. I edit these shots with higher contrast to make those details pop, turning a chaotic baraat or a quiet family hug into a singular moment of focus.
Why Black and White?
There is a classic, honest quality to black and white photography that colour often masks. In the middle of an Indian wedding, where the decor is vibrant and the crowd is energetic, colour can sometimes feel overwhelming. Monochrome allows me to strip the noise away and focus on the story.
My Approach to Monochrome
When I capture a candid 'vidaai' moment or a groom receiving a hug from his parents, I am looking for the texture of the emotion. My editing process for these images involves a deep, rich black and a bright white to ensure the subjects stand out. I want you to look at a photo years from now and feel the exact same warmth you felt the moment it was taken.
Where Monochrome Fits
I find these shots work best for:
- Emotional Transitions: The tearful goodbyes or the nervous jitters before the mandap.
- Family Intimacy: Quiet embraces between parents and children.
- Character Studies: Portraits of guests or elders that capture wisdom and personality.
- Tense Moments: The high-energy, sweaty, and real chaos of the dance floor.
If you are planning your wedding in Mumbai or anywhere else in India, let's talk about including a dedicated monochrome series in your album. It brings a grounded, timeless feel to your final collection that colour photos simply cannot replicate.
