About this collection
My priority is your baby’s comfort, even when we’re using elaborate props like a miniature Trishul or a Gudi. These sessions are slow-paced, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and diaper changes, ensuring we capture genuine expressions rather than forced poses.
I believe festivals are the perfect time to introduce your little one to our rich culture. Whether you’re dreaming of a serene newborn Mahadev session or a joyous Varkari portrait, I provide the complete setup—from hand-picked costumes and Rudraksha beads to the authentic props needed to bring these stories to life.
My Approach to Cultural Shoots
These themes require patience. A newborn Shiv session focuses on peace, utilizing soft wraps and steady lighting to keep the baby asleep and content. For older babies, we switch to more interactive setups where they can play with props like the Gudi or prayer beads. I handle all styling, so you don't need to hunt for miniature ethnic wear or specific festival items.
What to Expect
- Safe Props: Everything is baby-safe. I use soft-touch fabrics and non-sharp props.
- Customization: If you have a specific family tradition or a festival you want to celebrate, let me know. I love crafting new setups for themes like Holi or Janmashtami.
- Flexibility: While most festive sessions happen in my Malad West studio for the best control over lighting and setups, I can also bring a selection of props to your home if that makes your baby feel more at ease.
These sessions are about creating images that you'll look back on for years—a way to preserve the magic of your baby's first festivals.
Fotosmith Photography
I'm Shalaka, and I see myself as a 'fotosmith' rather than just a photographer. I love finding ways to weave our traditions into my studio sessions because these cultural milestones tell the first, beautiful chapters of your child's story.
