About First Steps on Wheels
Before you spend money on expensive gear, let's talk. We always start with a fit check. Helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are non-negotiable. You will master the Fall and Get Up technique before you ever try a glide. It is the safest way to build confidence and prevents the most common beginner mistakes.
We keep the First Steps on Wheels program simple because learning to skate should not be stressful. My goal is to get you rolling safely, whether you are joining us at the Play Arena in Gunjur or an apartment complex in Sarjapur.
What we cover in your first month:
- The Basics: We start on safe ground, learning static balance, the V-walk or duck walk, and how to stand without wobbling.
- Safety Mastery: Falling is part of learning, but getting up correctly is the skill that saves you. We practice this until it is muscle memory.
- Movement: Once you are stable, we move to push and glide mechanics and how to use your heel or T-stop to slow down safely.
Why learn with Flying Skaters? Classes are small, grouped by age and skill, so you get real attention. I do not just stand there and watch. I correct your posture, check your gear tightness, and make sure you are actually learning, not just rolling around. If you are a complete beginner who has never put on skates, this is where you start. No fancy tricks yet, just solid fundamentals that make the later stuff like freestyle or speed skating much easier.
