About Pilates is for Every Body
Whether you are carrying a sports injury or just trying to survive a desk job, the Reformer machine is actually your best friend. It is not about being flexible before you walk through the door; it is about using the machine’s resistance to support your body while you build deep core strength. We don't do 'headcount' classes here, so expect actual, hands-on guidance on your form, not just a room full of people mimicking a video.
We Are Here to Bust the Myths
There is a lot of noise about Pilates, and most of it is wrong. We’re stripping it back to the basics at our Juhu studio because movement shouldn't be intimidating.
Pilates is just for women: This is the biggest misconception we deal with. Joseph Pilates actually invented this method for injured soldiers during World War I. It was designed for stability and functional strength, and it is just as demanding for men as it is for women. If you are an athlete, you will find muscles you didn't even know you had.
I need to be flexible to start: If you were already flexible, you wouldn't need us. The Reformer is designed to meet you exactly where you are. We use springs and pulleys to give you the exact amount of support or resistance you need, whether you are rehabilitating a spine injury or just trying to touch your toes.
It is just stretching: You will feel the 'Pilates Hangover'—that specific muscle fatigue that lets you know it is working. We don't just stretch; we load muscles under tension. This builds the kind of core strength that prevents lower back pain and improves your posture, not just for the hour you are in the studio, but for the other 23 hours of your day.
Our instructors at Flow House are obsessed with form. We use tactile cueing to fix your alignment because bad form is where injuries happen, not where strength is built. You show up, we handle the guidance, and you leave feeling stronger.
