The Art of Cold Process Soap Making
I don't believe in mass production. Here is a look inside my Mumbai studio, where I use traditional cold-process methods to create skincare with patience as the primary ingredient.
The process begins with the pour. Here, I'm hand-pouring a batch of rich, dark soap made with activated charcoal. This step is crucial for achieving a smooth, consistent texture in every single bar.
This vibrant red liquid is the base for my popular Turmeric Saffron soap. I believe in treating your skin with clean, gentle skincare, and it all starts with pouring the highest quality plant-based ingredients.
Mass production is not my style. In my charming Mumbai studio, every batch is poured by hand with intention. This dark, luxurious blend is on its way to becoming a deeply cleansing and beautiful soap bar.
Ever wondered how a traditional cold process soap comes to life? It's a multi-step process of blending, pouring, and layering. Here you can see me creating a two-toned bar, a technique that results in a visually stunning final product.
The final touch before the soap sets is texturing the top. Using just a simple spoon, I create a unique, wavy pattern on this dark, glossy soap loaf. This is how I add a touch of handcrafted luxury to every batch.
This is the timeline for my pouring process, from a liquid blend of oils and botanicals to a solid loaf. This Chamomile Dream soap is made with pure chamomile extract, perfect for soothing sensitive skin.
Every bar is a testament to countless hours of dedication. After pouring, the soap loaves are covered and left to set. This insulation process, called saponification, is where the oils and lye magically transform into gentle soap.
Did you know I create every product with carefully sourced materials and passion? Here, I'm unmolding several different soap loaves, including a charcoal swirl and a textured turmeric bar, ensuring each design is special.
The moment of truth: the cut. This montage shows the satisfying slice through three different loaves, revealing the intricate patterns and beautiful colors inside. This is where the artistry of handmade soap truly shines.
We are your perfect match in the skincare swipe game. Watching a fresh loaf of soap being sliced into individual bars is one of the most satisfying parts of my job. Each cut is precise, ensuring every bar is a perfect piece of art.
About The Art of Soap Making: From Pour to Bar
Every bar you see here requires a 4 to 6-week cure time to ensure it is hard, long-lasting, and retains its natural glycerin. When you hold a Fika soap, you aren't holding a factory-milled product; you are holding a piece of slow, plant-based chemistry that started as a liquid blend in my Malad studio.
When I talk about cold process soap, I mean the traditional, time-intensive method that preserves the integrity of my raw ingredients. There are no shortcuts here. I blend vegetable oils like coconut and rice bran with luxury butters and pure essential oils, then pour them into molds to saponify slowly. In my Mumbai studio, you won't find industrial machinery, just the tools of the trade—spatulas, stainless steel pots, and wire cutters.
The 4 to 6-week curing time is where the actual transformation happens. It allows the soap to harden naturally and the pH to stabilize, resulting in a gentle, nourishing bar that does not strip your skin. This is why you will often see slight variations in color or texture between batches; it is the honest nature of working with natural clays and botanicals rather than synthetic dyes.
Whether you are a retail partner looking for shelf-ready artisan soap or someone wanting a curated hamper for an event, my process remains the same: I create, I cure, and I hand-bevel every single bar before it leaves my workshop. If you want to understand why your skin feels different after using a bar that has been cured for weeks, or if you need a reliable source for high-quality vegan skincare in the city, start a conversation. Let’s talk about what clean, honest skincare actually looks like.
