Behind the Scenes: How We Hand-Pour Our Soy Candles
Ever wonder what goes into making your candles? Come see what happens in our Mumbai studio, where every piece is hand-poured with a little bit of magic. ✨
The Anatomy of a Non-Toxic Candle. We use only the best ingredients: Indian-grown soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and pure essential oils, all hand-poured in small batches.
Why do I only use soy wax? It's 100% natural, burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax, and is eco-friendly. It's simply better for you and the planet.
A friendly reminder to always trim your wick before lighting your candle. This ensures a cleaner, longer burn and prevents soot.
Studio days. A look at our "Summer Sorbet" labels and the matching daisy wax toppers before they go into the jars.
It's all about the details. We even designed these custom dust covers to keep your candles clean and protected before their first burn.
Do you know why soy wax candles can turn yellow? It's a natural oxidation process, especially with vanilla-based fragrances, and doesn't affect the candle's performance at all.
Thank you, Vadodara. A look at our stall at a recent flea market. I'm so grateful for everyone who came out to support us.
Here's a tip for how to easily add a wick to a bubble candle. This is a trick I've learned after making thousands of these little blobs.

About Behind The Scenes & Our Process
It is not just about melting wax; it is about testing wicks, waiting for the perfect cure time, and ensuring every scent throw hits just right. We are transparent about the process because we know that when you light a candle in your home, you deserve to know exactly what is in it, from the lead-free cotton wicks to the pure essential oils we use.
We started Feme Candles because we were obsessed with aesthetic home decor that did not compromise on health. Our studio in Mumbai is where the magic happens. We only use 100% natural, vegan soy wax because it burns cleaner and longer than paraffin alternatives. You will often find us testing fragrance loads to ensure our Bourbon Vanilla or Rose Velvet and Oud scents actually fill your room without being overwhelming.
The Real Talk About Our Process
- Transparency Matters: We share our process because soy wax behaves differently than paraffin. For example, if you notice a slight yellow tint over time, that is a natural oxidation process, especially with vanilla-based fragrances. It does not affect how the candle performs, but we think you should know why it happens.
- The Details: Everything we make, from our Jesmonite trays to our signature holographic jars, is handled in small batches. This means we can keep an eye on every detail, like custom dust covers that keep your candles protected before they even reach you.
- Candle Care: We love it when you get the most out of your purchase. Always trim your wick before lighting it to ensure a clean, long-lasting burn. It prevents soot and helps the wax melt evenly.
Whether you are looking for custom candles for a wedding, corporate gifts, or just a treat for your shelf, you are getting something made with care right here in India.
