A full-length portrait showcasing an intricately embroidered ethnic gown. The lighting and pose are designed to display the complete look in a sophisticated manner.
A moody, atmospheric version of a portrait from the same ethnic wear series. The warmer tones and added haze create a different, more dramatic feel.
A detailed close-up focusing on the jewelry and side profile. This type of shot is crucial for showcasing the work of makeup artists and jewelry designers.
About this collection
To get these results, I focus heavily on light and texture. Standard flat lighting kills the depth in ethnic fabrics, so I use controlled, side-angled lighting to make the embroidery and jewelry stand out. This is why your outfit looks so rich in the final edit, as it is not just about posing but about how the light hits your dupatta or lehenga.
Whether you are a model, a makeup artist, or a bride-to-be, the goal of an ethnic shoot is to bring out the soul of the attire. My style relies on creating a vintage atmosphere similar to the 'Heeramandi' aesthetic. I use a mix of warm tones and dramatic shadows to make fabric embroidery and heavy jewelry pop.
Why Lighting Matters
Most casual shoots wash out the detail in heavy garments. I use professional 3-point lighting setups, often with softboxes and grids, to isolate you from the background. This creates that high-end, cinematic look where you are the focus.
What You Need to Know
If you are booking an ethnic session, bring your most comfortable outfits first. We will start with a simpler look to get you used to the camera before moving to heavy bridal jewelry or intricate gowns. For makeup artists, let me know in advance if you want specific macro shots for your portfolio to highlight your work.
I shoot with Sony Alpha gear and prime lenses, ensuring every shot remains crisp even when we go for a moody, low-light aesthetic. We can do this in my Haldwani studio or at a location of your choice if you have a specific venue in mind. Let's keep it simple. You bring the elegance, and I handle the technical side to make sure you look your best.
