See how our students put their training to the test. Our scrimmages and games are where real game IQ develops, teaching kids how to hustle, communicate, and compete on the court.

A player executes a jump shot over a defender. We teach players how to create space and get their shot off even when contested.

A one-on-one battle near the basket. This player uses his body to shield the ball while driving, a key technique for finishing strong in the paint.

Players learn court awareness and defensive positioning during a half-court set. Understanding where to be on the floor is just as important as on-ball skills.

A young player practices a layup during a game drill. We focus on proper footwork and finishing with both hands to make our players versatile.

Going up strong for a rebound. Boxing out and securing the board is a fundamental part of the game that we drill into every player.

A player takes a mid-range jump shot while being closely guarded. This demonstrates the confidence we build in our players to take and make important shots.

Perfect shooting form on display. We break down the mechanics of a good shot, from the feet to the follow-through, to build consistent shooters.

A player squares up to the basket, reading the defense before taking a shot. Game intelligence is a major focus in our training.

A wide view of a full-court game in progress. Players are transitioning from defense to offense, a critical part of the game's flow.

A close-up of a contested layup, showing the focus required to finish through contact. We train players to be aggressive and attack the rim.

About On-Court Action: Scrimmages & Games

These aren't just informal pickup games. During our scrimmages at the GD Goenka outdoor court, we stop play to correct positioning or explain decision-making in real-time. You will see players learning to communicate on defense and spotting the open man, because raw talent is nothing without the right court vision.

Building Basketball IQ Through Real Action

Drills teach you the mechanics—dribbling, shooting form, and footwork—but the game teaches you how to think. That is why our scrimmage sessions are a mandatory part of our basketball training in East Delhi. We believe that to become a complete player, you must be able to apply your skills in a live environment.

What Happens on Court

When we run these matches, the focus shifts from individual technique to team coordination. We want to see if a player can:

  • Read the Defense: Recognize when to drive to the basket and when to kick the ball out to an open shooter.
  • Defensive Positioning: Learn how to slide, box out for rebounds, and communicate with teammates during a play.
  • Handle Pressure: Make smart decisions with the ball even when they are being closely guarded.

The Outdoor Environment

Training outdoors at GD Goenka gives our players a different perspective. It builds resilience. Whether it is a sunny morning or a windy day, the ball still needs to go in the hoop. We teach our students to adapt, hustle, and stay focused on their assignment regardless of external conditions.

Is This For You?

Whether your child is a beginner learning the basics of a layup or an experienced teenager looking to sharpen their tactical play, our practice games provide the perfect proving ground. We ensure that every scrimmage is competitive, safe, and most importantly, an opportunity to learn. If you are looking for basketball practice matches that prioritize growth over just keeping score, you are in the right place.

I founded ED Basketball Academy simply because I love the sport and wanted a space in East Delhi where kids could learn to grind. We keep the energy high and the coaching real, focusing on building players who actually know how to hoop when the pressure is on.
